Electric Generators

Electric generators usually consist of a set of coils (rotor) spinning between two strong magnets (stator).  In general any moving magnetic force induces some electricity in the wires (conductors) that are close to it. The main challenges in designing an electric generator are identifying ways to optimize the production of electricity. Some of the ways you can increase the efficiency of an electric generator are using a very strong magnet and keeping the magnet very close to the coil. Here are some of the electric generators available at MiniScience.

Bicycle Generator, 6-Volts

This is a small electric generator that may be attached to a bike or any turning tire to produce electricity. The amount of electricity depends on the speed of turning. It is rated as 6 Volt and 3 Watts.

When attached to a working model of windmill or water mill it can produce electricity to lit a few light a few miniature light bulbs. It must spin at a rate of 600 rpm or more to produce electricity.

Product Code: BGEN6V3W

Bicycle Generator, 12-Volts

This is a small electric generator that may be attached to a bike or any turning tire to produce electricity. The amount of electricity depends on the speed of turning. It is rated as 12 Volt and 6 Watts.

When attached to a working model of windmill or water mill it can produce electricity to lit a few light a few miniature light bulbs. It must spin at a rate of 600 rpm or more to produce electricity.

Product Code: BGEN12V6W

Wooden Generator, Science Kit

This is a DIY electrical generator for students who want to make their own electrical generator. In this model to rotor is a strong magnet (inside the box) that turns inside a conductive coil.

Fast turning of the wood dowel will lit the lights.

Product code: KITWG

Wooden DC Generator

DC Motor Generator, 1.5 V

A strong motor that can also be used as a generator to create semi DC electricity. Strong magnets used in this motor provide an extra torque at the expense of some lower speed.

A pair of this may be used to demonstrate the conversion of electrical energy to mechanical energy and vise versa.

Product Code: RE140SA
