Beeswax can be used
in the entire range of cosmetic products, for example in W/O and O/W
formulations, sticks, salves, make-up, hair care products, etc.
In sticks beeswax
improves structure, oil retention, firmness, adhesion, pay-off and mould
release. In emulsions beeswax functions as a consistency regulator and
as a (co-)emulsifier and contributes to skinfeel, emolliency, barrier
function and appearance.
In pharmaceutical
salves and creams beeswax improves the cosmetic properties of the
product. In suppositories beeswax is used as a coating. In the
production of soft gelatin capsules beeswax is an important ingredient.
In candles beeswax is
traditionally used for its beautiful colour.
Beeswax candles also
burn longer and are appreciated by many as a high quality product.
Beeswax has food
additive status (E901, GRAS). Widely used in the coating of soft candy,
chocolate, fruit and in industrial bakeries as a release agent.
Compatibility of
beeswax with other waxes is excellent. |
