Plastic Weights

Color coded plastic weights are excellent tools to teach students about masses, weight measurement and how balance scales work. You can use plastic masses with small educational balance scales or with your own home made balance scale.

This set includes 54 stackable plastic weights as follows:

• 20 blue 1-gram masses
• 20 red 5-gram masses
• 10 yellow 10-gram masses
• 4 green 20-gram masses

Each weight is a hexagonal block of hard plastic with specific mass that is clearly marked on top in beveled characters. Product Code: MSPW54

Weights are useful in teaching mathematics as well as many courses of physics such as density and buoyancy. Weights help students visualize additions and multiplications. For example you can use weights and scale to show that 4 x 5 = 20 or show that 10 + 5 + 1 +1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 20.

Either of the two balance scales shown here may be used with the plastic weights. Primary balance scale is shown on the left and elementary balance scale is shown on the right.
