Magnet Wire
Magnet wires are used to make
simple electromagnets or electromagnets for devices such as speakers,
telegraphs, bells and buzzers, solenoids, motors, transformers and many other devices.
Magnet wires are usually high purity
and high conductivity copper wires with a thin and almost invisible
enamel insulation. Magnet wires vary based on their gage (thickness),
insulation type, temperature resistance, and some other factors. The
most common enamels for magnet wires are poly urethane and polyester
resins. Magnet wires may be made in different colors; however, the color
does not necessarily represent a specific quality or specification. |

MiniScience supply a limited
number of magnet wires that can be utilized in many educational projects. These
include magnet wires gage 28 up to 22 in small spools of 250 up to 500 feet. All
MiniScience magnet wires are certified to be in thermal class 155C and meet the
requirements of IEC standard 60317-21 as well as Federal Specification JW
1177/42.
MW23_250
250 feet spool of 23 AWG magnet wire is
the highest diameter magnet wire we offer. This wire is recommended for
high current applications including large motors, transformers and
electromagnets. |
 |
MW28_500
500 feet spool of 28 AWG magnet wire is
the lowest diameter magnet wire we offer. This wire is recommended for
low current applications including small motors, transformers and
electromagnets.

MW27_200
200 feet spool of 27 AWG magnet wire is
the most commonly used magnet wire we offer. This wire is recommended
for construction of small electric generators and other low current
applications including small transformers and electromagnets. The Wooden
Generator science kit is using this wire along with a super strong
magnet. |
