Aluminum Plastic Pulleys
with red sheaves. Made in
|These pulleys are made of rigid
colored plastic with deep V-grooves. They are balanced for free
movement and have a 50 mm diameter.
mounted on aluminum strips with hooks at both ends. These pulleys are often
used as parts of compound machines. They function as helper machines,
easing the lifting power. Aluminum frames are not attracted by magnets, so
these pulleys are recommended in projects where strong magnets are also used as
a part of the structure.
|In fact, a pulley system can cut the force
necessary to lift a very heavy object in two, four, etc., depending on the
designed system. With these pulleys you can study and measure the force
and distance trade off with compound machines. These pulleys are good for
science experiments as well as functional tasks.
|This compound machine is an example of
how these pulleys may be used. It uses three pulleys to lift a heavy weight with ease.
This particular design will reduce the lifting force from the actual weight of
the object by about 30 times. Off course, the actual design will determine
the force necessary because of all the parts involved.
If you are not lifting magnets and you will not
have any strong magnet close to the pulley, we suggest
pulleys with steel frames for
additional strength and durability.
|Pulley Lines or Pulley Strings
You will need high quality strings or
ropes for your pulleys. This pulley requires a 2-mm string. Please see
available pulley lines and make sure you order the right size for
